PURPOSE:
The supplement is intended for adults as a dietary supplement with N-acetyl L-cysteine, L-glutathione, and milk thistle seed extract. Glutathione is a compound present in all plant and animal cells. Its consumption is associated with a measurable increase in its concentration in plasma and various tissues, but this is not constant and decreases over time. Lower levels of glutathione are found, for example, in cells of aging organisms, due to reduced synthesis. Low glutathione levels are also noted in the blood of smokers. NAC is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine and, after consumption, is almost completely metabolized in the liver to cysteine, and further to glycine and glutathione. Milk thistle supports proper liver function and helps maintain proper blood sugar levels. Additionally, milk thistle has antioxidant properties.
